Established in 2007 (previously known as Kris Leigh Photography), Grow Photography is a Newcastle grown business owned and operated by Child Portrait Photographer Kris Leigh. Proud to be one of the only photographers in Newcastle who exclusively shoots baby, children and family portraits, Kris is renowned for her friendly, warm and fun sessions. With a focus on customer satisfaction and high quality products, she offers a 100% printed and handcrafted Australian product!

With a love of beautiful light, wondrous locations and childhood moments Kris captures bumps, bubs, kids & families in an honest and fun way. Always happy to chat and laugh she loves nothing more than building sandcastles, playing hide and seek, singing lullabies and capturing little ones doing what they do best, being themselves!

Kris's style is often described as soulful, honest, playful and fun. She loves to capture pure moments of love, joy and life!

Ensuring clients are always comfortable and relaxed, she asks them to ignore her and focus on each other. She wants to see cuddles, tickles, laughter, kisses, dancing and playing. Stuffy poses and forced smiles are forbidden!

clothing and location

Keep clothing simple! Natural fabrics such as cotton, wool or light linen are comfortable and always look great in beach or park settings, as do darker toned shirts/dresses and denim, knitted jackets, beanies, scarfs and bare feet. Also include anything that your Child never wants to be without, a favourite hat, teddy bear, gumboots, mask etc anything that represents them at this point in time.

The location can be anywhere that is special to you! Kris most often shoots in clients homes as well as beaches around Newcastle giving a perfect backdrop for those fun moments.

"I'm a mum, a wife and an 80's child (bring on Wham!, 21 Jump Street and Growing Pains any day!). I love laughing, lollies, farmers union iced coffee and I've never valued peace and quiet more in my life =) I'm inspired by beautiful light, childhood moments, baby giggles, all things vintage but most of all, connections! Although I do love the ease of digital, I adore everything to do with film *sigh* The texture, the grain, the tones, the vintage feel and the fact you have to consider everything to get the capture *just* right. For me, there's nothing like it so I try to capture that timeless film feel with my digital camera!"

"So what can you expect from a session with Grow? Well, firstly, I'm a very casual person and I talk ALOT, lol! I throw my shoes off, get down on the ground, play and talk with your little one and capture them doing what they do best, being themselves! Don't be surprised if I start singing lullabies, talking baby talk or building sandcastles, I'm really a 5yr old at heart! For families, I ask you to ignore me and concentrate on each other. Laugh, tickle, cuddle, kiss, jump, run, play but most of all, have fun!"

Kris works very closely with one of THE best framers in Newcastle to create the amazing Matted Gift Prints, Art Mounts and Art Frames that she offers! All Grow products are proudly 100% printed and handcrafted in Australia.

Grow has no minimum spend requirements but clients generally invest between $1,200 and $3,000 on their custom Grow products.
